Dr. Jochen Siemens, longtime editor of the "Frankfurter Rundschau" and later on "All About
Wine", met in 2006 a long cherished dream: He took over the VDP winery Herrenberg in Serrig
on the Saar. After necessary investments in the cellar technology
he brings the enormous potential of mountain Würtz (50% of
red shale) and the Herrenberg full advantage. Both of those
great, south facing Slate steep slopes are the southernmost locations on the Saar and farmed in monopoly.
Dr. Siemens benefits from the oldest Weißburgunder- and Pinot Noir locations in the region. 2006 was his first born, and it was immediately clear what is actually possible in this commodity. In a very short time succeeded Dr. Siemens revive the old with the new identity heydays. He not only convinces with its Rieslings, but makes itself heard with his red wine.
Stuart Pigott, the renowned British wine journalist and outspoken Rieslingfan has taken over the property in his "little genius Wine Guide 2010".
