The lands of Alenquer, set out from the sinuous elevations of the clayey-calcareous line of the Montejunto hills, to the alluvial fields in the right bank of the river Tejo. Shaped as a square, measuring around 300 square KM, unfolded over a shifting landscape of mountains, hills, valleys and narrows passes, covered in great length, by a carpet of vineyards that every year comes to life in a fresh mixture of thousand colors. A luscious spring green, dyed with the melancholy of yellow and red, during the Autumn grape harvest season. It is in this landscape, facing the massive Montejunto and the stillness of the river Tejo’s waters, that lies Quinta do Carneiro, toil of many generations devoted to the insightful management of all gifts from nature. Guilherme Carlos Henriques wrote in “Alenquer e o seu concelho”, 1873, - “Quinta do Carneiro derives from the surname of its current owner, his excelency the count of Lumiares; Carneiro e Sousa”. The Agro-Society of the Carneiro, works in the wine and vineyard sector as producer and bottler. It is has an area of 50 ha of clayey-calcareous soil, lain in gentle slopes, facing South, East and West. Inserted in a mild climate of Mediterranean influence, most o the estates area is occupied by vineyards, totaling an area around 42 ha, that every year produce, in average, 3000 hl of wine.
