In 1788 Domenico Blasig founded the Tenuta di Blasig in Ronchi dei Legionari with the goal of making Malvasia and selling it from Venice to Vienna. In 1818, Domenico and his son finishes building the current winery and Villa that still are used today. The Tenuta di Blasig farms 18 hectares of vineyards in five different areas all within a few kilometers of our winery. As one of the oldest wineries in Friuli, for eight generations, the Tenuta di Blasig has been making wines from the vineyards of the coastal Isonzo Valley. In 1989, the current generation of Blasig, Elisabetta Bortolotto Sarcinelli, takes over the winery’s operations. Elisabetta,who previously had worked and studied in Germany, Austria and the United States, instantly takes her expanded horizons across the ocean and becomes one of the first people to sell Refosco and Malvasia in the United States.
