After the total destruction of the vineyard in the 19th Century by the phylloxera, it took thirty years to find a vineyard capable of producing high quality wines.
From the 1960s, André BESSETTE restructured the entire vineyard (grape varieties and grapes with more qualitative qualities and the drainage of all the plantations) .In the 80's, the vineyard
extends over 20 Hectares, a cellar allowing to receive Stainless steel tanks is built.
In 1999, André's son, Alain, after working in a beautiful property of Bordeaux for more than 10 years, joined his father in order to perpetuate the quality of the work carried out by him and to bring his experience. It gives a new impetus to the CHATEAU LA VERRIERE. For 10 years the Castle has been enlarged with new plots of high quality and modernized. A new barrel cellar underground, a cellar of bottling and conditioning are now necessary for the winemaking and breeding of the wine of the property. Today, the estate of about sixty hectares holds all the necessary modern equipment (temperature control, pneumatic press, micro-oxygenation) to the development of a high-quality wine. For the BESSETTTE family, the vines are cultivated by combining quality production with respect for the environment and the soil.
